Decorating with Directors Chairs

There was never a shortage of Director's chairs around when I was growing up. Being an avid boating family we had many... Cocktail hour was in in the aft of the boat after a long day on the water, from fishing or cruising. We sat and hung out, just talking about the day, who caught the biggest fish,  walking up and down the docks of Montauk or Block Island viewing the days catch. watching an amazing surnrise or sunset and enjoying family time. These are some of my greatest and fondest family memories.

Directors chairs, are a great way to add  a nautical touch to any coastal home or beach house, for  a relatively inexpensive price. You get a lot of bang for the buck with these chairs for a variety of reasons.  The chair slings come in a variety of colors, so you are able to add  a particular color  where ever you need that punch of color.Usually fold able, they can be moved from room to room and are great for extra seating. They can be slip covered , dressed up or dressed down and they are a durable. They look great  Beat up and shabby to sleek and modern these chairs are so versatile, they adapt in just about any  decor.

In an entry way or in a small alcove,  the chair is functional , but also helps create a great coastal vignette.

I do..I've always loved them. I have one in my studio. I first bought dark brown but it was too dark so I returned it and got the white wood. It has a natural canvas(like the one in the bathroom image above), but I have a giraffe print and dark leather with a boho print too. I want to get another white wood one with natural canvas to set up in front of our vintage travel trailer.
